Over the last several years, I’ve spent most Friday mornings sitting in a coffee shop, sipping some goodness, reading, writing, and drawing. This has been a huge leap for me, making time for design/art related projects that are not client specific. It’s been a time of play that I like to call a Creative Morning—not to be confused with Creative Mornings (which are pretty freaking cool as well).
Now I’ve got a bunch of ideas for art pieces, products and design projects littered across several sketchbooks—yet something is missing.
I haven’t made anything! Not one single idea has been manifested, outside of mock-ups on this site.
I’m committing to making 6 of these ideas in 2013. By MAKE I mean, to put the idea into physical form, to be held and appreciated. It is now public. I am now being held collectively accountable by YOU (& The Bushwackers of course).
A little type play, quick inspiration on this Thanksgiving Day.
Part encouragement to consume, part commentary on consuming. I guess it depends on where your interests lie. This idea came about as I was doing some shopping myself. Isn’t it really what most shopping bags with logos on them are saying anyway?
One day, riding with my good friend, Rich on a trip to Pennsylvania (my home state), he says “Please, cut me off. Go ahead, it’s OK” as a driver sped up next to him, seemingly wanting to get in front of Rich’s car. He said this in such a matter-of-fact kind of a way, that I couldn’t help but find it amusing. The funnier thing is that he was being truly sincere, he didn’t mind if the guy cut him off, he’d just rather him get it over with. I thought, what a great bumper sticker idea! Here’s to you, Rich.
